11 Easy Steps to Clean Clear Vinyl:

  1. Remove Loose Dirt: Use a hose or wet microfiber cloth and rinse off all the dirt. Be sure to be gentle and remove any loose dirt or debris from the surface of the vinyl windows. This prevents scratching during the cleaning process. You need to be careful during this step because if a small piece of sand gets stuck to your cloth and you are putting too much pressure it is possible to scratch the vinyl. It is best to clean while the vinyl is upright as if the clear vinyl is laid down on the ground it can more easily get scratched.
  2. Prepare a Cleaning Solution: Fill a bucket with a mixture of mild dish soap or a gentle detergent and warm water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they will damage the vinyl. Avoid aerosol cans and most glass cleaners as the chemicals will remove any protective layers of the vinyl and will dry out the vinyl faster causing the clear vinyl to break down faster.
  3. Clear Vinyl Cleaners: You can also get a clear vinyl cleaner specially made for clear vinyl. We recommend using our easy 3 step solution that cleans protects and preserves your clear vinyl. Be sure to follow the product instructions for application and use.
  4. Apply the Cleaning Solution: Dip a soft sponge or microfiber cloth into the soapy water and gently rub the vinyl windows to apply the cleaning solution. Make sure to cover the entire surface.
  5. Scrub Stubborn Stains: For stubborn stains, use a soft brush or toothbrush to gently scrub the affected areas. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to avoid scratching the vinyl.
  6. Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the vinyl windows thoroughly with clean water to remove the soap residue. You can use a hose or a bucket of clean water for this step.
  7. Dry the Vinyl: Use a microfiber cloth to dry the vinyl windows completely. This helps prevent water spots and streaks.
  8. Preserve and Protect the Vinyl:  After the vinyl has been cleaned we would highly suggest adding a clear vinyl protectant to help add additional UV protection and help extend the product longer. I would highly suggest getting our clean, preserve and protect cleaner as this not only cleans the product but will help keep it looking great for much longer when used regularly. Think of it like adding sunscreen to your vinyl.
  9. Important Note: If your vinyl windows are slightly yellow or have cloudiness or hazing this could be from the vinyl being older and drying out from the elements. Yes even UV treated Clear Vinyl will eventually weather, but it does have a much longer lifespan. In these situations you will likely need to replace the vinyl vs cleaning it. We highly recommend getting a UV treated Marine Grade Vinyl like Flexa Clear Vinyl.
  10. Regular Maintenance: To keep your clear vinyl windows in good condition, regularly clean them and remove any dirt or grime. This helps prevent the buildup of stains and extends the life of the vinyl.
  11. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Refrain from using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals on clear vinyl windows, as they can cause damage and reduce clarity.

By following these steps and using gentle cleaning solutions, you can effectively clean your clear vinyl windows and maintain their clarity over time. So invest in regular maintenance, and proper cleaning procedures to witness the longevity of your Clear Vinyl Fabric.
